More parents are entrusting their children’s education to private
schools. This is evident in the way the number of private schools has
significantly increased.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, there are
approximately 29,000 private schools in the US back in 2008 and the number of
students that they cater to reaches 6.1 million.
Contrary to what others might presume, private schools provide constant
supervision and absolutely have zero tolerance policies. Students are given
equal attention while encouraging open interaction that would otherwise be
overlooked in a school with a massive population.
Simple changes in the class setup such as the arrangement of seats
significantly improves the discussion format for classroom teaching. Another
good thing about being in a private school is that serious infractions of the
rules such as substance abuse, cheating, bullying and hazing are never
tolerated.
Another misconception that has become an accepted norm though not
generally true, is that private schools are for the elite. When the 1980s and
1990s came, schools have become proactive in searching for qualified candidates
no matter the socioeconomic status the individual is in. Diversity is greatly
encouraged and practiced in any private school.
