Reasons to Enroll Your Child in a Private School

While public schools offer an adequate education to most students, you may feel as if your child needs specialized instruction or attention. By enrolling your child in a private school, you can feel confident that smaller class sizes and a focus on student growth will help your child prepare for adulthood in the 21st century.

For parents who believe in religious values, sending your child to a Catholic or Christian school can help reinforce those views each day. While your child won't spend the whole day reading the Bible, he or she will learn math, science and reading based on religious texts or secular texts with religious messages sprinkled in.

Secular parents may also find that a private school is best for their children because classes may be separated by gender. This means that boys will go to school with other boys while girls will go to school with other girls. In middle and high school, students can become distracted by members of the opposite sex or act out to impress someone instead of focusing on the lesson at hand.

Finally, a private school may offer superior athletic or academic programs that could make it easier for a child to land a scholarship or scholarships to college. Tuition assistance may be available to those who need it to attend a private school prior to college. Such assistance could make an alternative setting affordable in addition to advantageous to all children who attend.
