Pros and Cons of Private Schools

It appears that there is a certain image of people who send their kids to private school. Normally, most people believe that only rich people send their kids to private school, and that it is especially out of reach for most parents. While money is certainly a consideration, there are many different reasons that kids go to private school. Plus, just like anything else in life, there are some cons that go with it. However, most of the time, the pros outweigh anything negative.

Tuition

The biggest concern that many people have when it comes to private schools is the cost. Since public schools are funded by the government, they are free to everyone. But private schools need to get their funding from somewhere, and that usually comes in the form of tuition. However, that does not mean only the rich can attend. There are plenty of voucher and scholarship programs available that can help families get their children into private institutions.

One on One Time

Public schools tend to have bigger class sizes, and that makes it hard for teachers to give one on one attention. Private schools allow for smaller class sizes, which enables students to get more direct instruction from their teacher.

Parental Involvement

If you are looking to get involved with your child’s school, you might find that private schools will allow for more opportunities for parents than public schools. That is because private schools are not bound by some of the red tape that public schools encounter on a day to day basis.
